Obama and Trump meet for 1st time at the White House (photos)

President Obama and president-elect Donald Trump met today at the White House and what an awkward scene it was. They spent 90minutes together, a meeting Donald Trump said he thought would last 10-15 minutes.

It was the very first time both men will meet each other, as Obama showed Trump, his wife Melania, Vice president elect Mike Pence, Mrs Pence and House Speaker Paul Ryan round the White House.

Both of them said good things about each other during the meeting with Obama saying he was "encouraged" by Mr Trump's willingness to work with his team, telling him:
"We want to do everything we can to help you succeed because if you succeed the country succeeds" while Trump called Obama a 'good man'
The more cordial and friendly tone adopted by the two men towards each other was in sharp contrast to the bitter spats that characterized the election campaign.

The Simpsons predicted Trump's victory 16 years ago

Unknown

In a 2000 episode of popular cartoon, The Simpsons titled Bart To The Future, Donald Trump was president. The iconic cartoon's creator, Matt Groening, said Trump was the most absurd joke name they could think of at that time and that was why his character was featured:
'Trump was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.'

Dan Greaney, a writer for the Simpsons also said that the clip had a dark message behind it:

'It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom.  It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.’

According to the plot of that episode, Lisa Simpson inherited a tattered economy from President Trump. In the episode she said:
'We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump. How bad does it get?' Her staff let her know in graph form that her country is broke due to her predecessor.

The president in waiting also appeared in another episode last year titled Trumptastic Voyage.

BEIRUT - Al Qaeda's media arm has released an audio in which the purported son of the late al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden threatens revenge against the U.S. for assassinating his father.

In the video released by As-Sahab Saturday, Hamza bin Laden tells Americans that they are accountable for the decisions of their leaders. He says al Qaeda will continue waging jihad, or holy war, against the U.S. in response to its "oppression" of Muslims.

"If you think that your sinful crime that you committed in Abbottabad has passed without punishment, then you thought wrong," he says.

Bin Laden was killed in a May 2011 U.S. raid at his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. His son's whereabouts is not known. Analysts speculate that he may be preparing to take over leadership of al Qaeda.

According to reports at the time of bin Laden's death, his widows told Pakistani security officials that they believe Hamza bin Laden escaped amid the confusion following the raid on his Abbottabad compound.

The U.S. military has said that bin Laden's son Khalid, 22, was killed in the raid, but the speculation is that the son who just barely escaped is Hamza bin Laden, 19 at the time of the raid, dubbed in the British tabloids as "the Crown Prince of Terror."

Hamza is the youngest of bin Laden's surviving children. Reports differ, but bin Laden is suspected of having fathered around 20 or so children.

In his handwritten will, bin Laden claimed he had about $29 million in personal wealth - the bulk of which he wanted to be used "on jihad, for the sake of Allah."

The al Qaeda leader planned to divide his fortune among his relatives, but wanted most of it spent to conduct the work of the Islamic extremist terror network behind the Sept. 11 attack.

Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has slammed the victory of Donald Trump in the just concluded election saying he is a fool and would destroy America himself thereby giving Jihadis opportunity to seize power. They went on to refer to him as a donkey saying he is "an indication of the end of the American empire".

"What we want is their country be delivered to a donkey like Trump who will destroy it. In the end, they are all our enemies and we will only meet them on the battlefields. It is either them or us. We ask Allah to make their destruction caused by their own plans and their death come among themselves. The world is going to experience a change and this change will put Islam in the leadership position as the end result" One ISIS Jihad said.
Few hours ago, al-Qaeda group also said that Trump's win will give extremists across the Middle East a common enemy – sparking fears of a major attack on US soil

"Watching the US election results come in, I couldn't help but think of my grandchildren" - Richard Branson

Unknown

As the world tries to come to terms with the fact that Donald Trump has been elected as the President of the United States of America, founder of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson, took to his blog to share his thoughts on the historic election. The 66-year-old, who previously said he feels that Trump would be a disastrous president, after his 'bizarre' encounter with the business mogul, said:
"Watching the US election results come in, I couldn’t help but think of my grandchildren. As so many parents and grandparents must be thinking, what kind of world do we want our children to grow up into? What type of message does Trump’s victory send to young people about the behaviours, principles and attitude to others required to succeed in life?

My biggest concerns include the possibility of an increasingly reactionary Supreme Court, while hard-earned progress on equality, women’s rights, immigration and climate change are at risk.

The last 12 months have shown just how divided Americans are on nearly any social and economic issue today. The tone of the campaign trail has reinforced that division. The vicious personal attacks and stinging barbs have made me wonder if political discourse can sink any lower than this.

However, now is not the time to create more division. We do so sadly, but have to accept the outcome of the election. We must hope that some of Trump’s rhetoric was just that and common sense and the checks of the democratic system will prevail. American leadership in this multipolar world has never been in greater demand – whether to fill the vacuum of power gradually devastating Syria and Iraq and forcing more refugees to flee their countries. Or to help move the world’s leading economies from climate talk to climate action and to conserve the ocean from irreparable damage - perhaps two of the most daunting challenges the world has ever faced.

Yet America can only rise to the challenge if she stands united. A divided nation cannot lead, nor can it inspire. My parents often talked with great admiration of the “Greatest Generation” of World War II, a generation that came together as one in a time of great crisis, harnessing its fantastic strength for the greater good, setting aside differences and seeking common ground across the entire political spectrum.

"It became the America that was greeted as a liberator and moral authority the world over; the America that welcomed the world’s refugees, the “huddled masses yearning to breathe free” with open arms. It took on those humanitarian duties and seized the tremendous economic and social benefits of an open and positive society for decades. It was America that put a man, twelve men in fact, on the moon, demonstrating that a shared vision and purpose can move mountains.
At its best, America is a democracy that thrives on constructive discourse and functioning checks and balances; not on misinformation, hate, and stubborn obstruction. It is a country that has prospered by welcoming the world to shape their lives there and follow the American dream. The words of two great American leaders come to mind:

"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." – Martin Luther King Jr.

"‘And this, too, shall pass away.’ How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! - how consoling in the depths of affliction! ‘And this, too, shall pass away.’" – Abraham Lincoln.

Momentous challenges lie ahead to heal the divide and reinvigorate the belief and faith in the political system. This election has undoubtedly caused lasting damage, both to America’s collective psyche and to the political will of its leaders to collaborate. But there is much to be done: to protect democratic processes, to stand up to intolerance, and to support each other in these challenging times. After all, it is not up to one man to shape the world we live in – it is up to all of us."

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton warned Americans that Donald Trump and the Republican party were “haters” that were not interested in fixing America’s problems.

Unknown
Clinton described the Republican National Convention as “so negative, so pessimistic, so dark” with a lot of “fear and hate.”
“Haters don’t build, haters tear down,” she said during her campaign rally in St. Petersburg, Florida this afternoon.
Clinton insisted that Trump was dangerous for the country and unsuitable for facing a crisis in the Oval Office, and she portrayed him as a bully.
“He is the same person that can be provoked by a Tweet, and who takes apparent pleasure in tormenting protesters at his rallies, a reporter with a tough question, even a crying baby and a Gold Star family,” Clinton said.
She mocked Trump, pointing out that after a week of controversial statements highlighted by the media, he was scrambling to get his campaign back on track.
“Don’t be fooled—there is no other Donald Trump,” she said. “What you see is what you get.”
Clinton mocked Trump’s economic plan, which he released in Detroit today, pointing out that it was a repeat of the same trickle down economics that allowed rich people to avoid paying taxes.
“We are going to raise it on the wealthy because that’s where the money is!” she said, referring to her proposed tax rates.
She argued that Trump would sink America back into an economic depression, after everything that Obama did after the stock market crash in 2008.
“Don’t let a friend vote Trump,” she said.
